life and work

From 1995 to 2001 Sandrock was the singer of the band Enfold. From 2004 to 2007 he studied experimental film at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen with Jean-François Guiton and at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg . Subsequently, until 2010 photography, film and video with Marie Jose-Burki and Jeanne Faust , with the latter he graduated with a specialization in “Time-related Media”. Sandrock has emerged with drawings, collages, paintings, photographic works and sculptural objects. If you look at an exhibition situation staged by him, not on site but on the Internet, then the description of the reviewing art critic applies to this one exhibition: the amorphous bodies of his sculptures and drawings are covered by beards, islands of hair, tufts of hair or by Fringed wreaths of hair . A recently published short essay goes into the underlying aesthetic position more fundamentally, in which it says: Stefan Sandrock operates with one of the most important aesthetic principles: with the least possible effort to achieve the greatest possible effect , (and would thus be in the best of company - the by Marcel Duchamp , as Natias Neutert puts it.

Sandrock lives and works in Hamburg .
