Stefan Schmeckenbecher (born February 10, 1981 in Tübingen ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career hall
Schmeckenbecher has been playing indoor volleyball at TV Rottenburg since 1992 . As a 15-year-old he joined the first team, with whom he rose from the Oberliga through the Regionalliga to the 2nd Bundesliga in the following years . After a season with league rivals SV Fellbach , he returned to Rottenburg and rose to the 1st Bundesliga twice in 2006 and 2008 .
Career Beach
Schmeckenbecher has also been active in beach volleyball since 1999. Until 2004 he played alongside Martin Kern at national tournaments. In 2005 he played with Erik Schmidt and then for two years with Axel Ziethe , with whom he first took part in the German championships in Timmendorfer Strand in 2006 . With Raimund Wenning , he took part in the German championships three times in a row from 2008 to 2010 and had the best placement in 2009 with seventh place. In 2011, Schmeckenbecher formed a duo with Stefan Schneider .
Trainer and functionary
Schmeckenbecher has been a licensed A-Beach volleyball trainer since 2007. Since 2013 he has headed the volleyball department at TV Rottenburg.
Professional
Schmeckenbecher studied political science and education at the University of Tübingen and today works as a school social worker in Rottenburg.
Private
Schmeckenbecher has been married to the former beach volleyball player Okka Rau since 2010 .
