Stefan Skora

Stefan Skora (born April 25, 1960 in Hoyerswerda ) is a German local politician of the CDU and the "election platform for Hoyerswerda". He has been Lord Mayor of the major district town of Hoyerswerda since 2006 .

Life

Stefan Skora attended a polytechnic high school and then an extended high school in Hoyerswerda, today's Lessing grammar school . After graduating from school, Skora studied process engineering for fuel technology at the Bergakademie Freiberg between 1980 and 1985 , graduating with a degree in engineering . After graduating, he worked in a research department at VEB Gaskombinat in Schwarze Pump until the fall of the Berlin Wall .

Stefan Skora is married and lives in Hoyerswerda.

Political activities

In 1989 Skora became a member of the Catholic parish of Hoyerswerda. The following year he was elected to the city ​​council of Hoyerswerda and became personal advisor to the district administrator of the district of Hoyerswerda . From 1996 Skora was finally head of the office of the mayor of Hoyerswerda.

From 2000 Skora was head of the office for economy and finance of the city of Hoyerswerda. In the following year he became the first deputy of the then Lord Mayor Horst-Dieter Brähmig . As the first mayor, Skora was responsible for finance and construction in the city of Hoyerswerda.

In the election of the mayor on September 10, 2006, Skora received 45.73% of the vote. However, he did not achieve the necessary votes for an absolute majority , which is why he had to run in a runoff election against the individual applicant Sandro Fiebig two weeks later . Skora won this runoff election with 53.7% of the vote. In the election, Skora was a candidate for the “Wahlplattform für Hoyerswerda”, a party alliance that consisted of city council groups from the CDU, the SPD , the Free Voters StadtZukunft and the FDP . In 2013, Skora was re-elected, also in a runoff election.
