Stefan Theisen

Stefan Theisen (* 1957 ) is a German theoretical physicist who deals with string theory.

Theisen studied physics at the University of Stuttgart and at Oregon State University , where he received his master's degree in 1981. In 1986 he received his PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara . He then worked at the Max Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics in Munich, at CERN , at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Since 2000 he has been a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam - Golm (head of the string theory working group). Besides string theory, he also dealt with supergravity , among other things .

In 2011 he received the J. Hans D. Jensen Prize and was then visiting professor in Heidelberg.
