Stefan Tilch

Stefan Tilch (born January 2, 1968 in Passau ) is a German theater director, director and filmmaker.

Tilch studied theater studies, musicology and Italian philology in Munich. From 1995 to 2002 he was the director of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Since August 2002 he has been director of the Lower Bavaria State Theater with permanent venues in Landshut, Passau and Straubing. He staged a. a. in Munich (Bavarian State Opera), in Dortmund, Heidenheim and at the opera festival at Gut Immling.

His interpretations of Georg Friedrich Handel's Acis and Galatea in the Munich Cuvilles Theater in the 2001/02 season as well as his production of Don Giovanni ( Mozart ) and Francesca da Rimini by Riccardo Zandonai (libretto ) for the Southeast Bavarian City Theater at the Prince Bishop's Opera House in Passau attracted attention by Gabriele D'Annunzio ).

Tilch is also considered the discoverer of lost or rarely played rarities (including Francesca da Rimini ) and of pieces by the Italian author Gabriele D'Annunzio. In 2003 he staged his own new translation into German La città morta ( Die tote Stadt ) at the Stadttheater Landshut. In his endeavor to raise the artistic quality of a relatively small house, he also brought well-known directors, stage and costume designers to Passau and Landshut, such as Jonathan Lunn (J. Offenbach: Orpheus in der Unterwelt ) or Ultz (Mozart: The Magic Flute ) .

He worked as a screenwriter on the films Pain au chocolat (1999) and Prelude (1996).
