Stefano Domenicali (born May 11, 1965 in Imola ) is an Italian manager and motorsport official . From 2007 to April 2014 he was the Formula 1 team boss at Scuderia Ferrari . He has been the CEO of Lamborghini since 2016 .

Career

Domenicali graduated from the University of Bologna with a degree in business administration in 1991 .

Immediately after graduating, Domenicali started at Ferrari in 1991 , initially working in the company's administration. A few years later he moved to Scuderia . Under his leadership, the reconstruction of the Mugello racetrack, owned by Ferrari and regularly used by Scuderia for testing purposes, took place.

Domenicali took care of the sponsors of the Scuderia before he was promoted to the management of the racing team in 1996. After being responsible for logistics at Scuderia for some time, he took on the role of sports director in 2002.

On November 12, 2007, the Scuderia announced the appointment of Domenicali as their team boss. Domenicali succeeded Jean Todt in this function . Domenicali held the position of team manager until April 14, 2014. During his time as team manager, Ferrari won the constructors' championship in 2008 . After a disappointing start to the season for Ferrari, he resigned in April 2014 . His successor was the previous managing director of Ferrari North America Marco Mattiacci .

In December 2014 Domenicali took over the chairmanship of the FIA's Monoposto Commission and in this position succeeded Gerhard Berger .

On March 15, 2016, Domenicali succeeded Stephan Winkelmann as CEO of Lamborghini . Winkelmann took over the management of Audi Sport .
