Stefano Felis , also known as Stefano de Maza Gatto , (baptized January 20, 1538 in Bari ; † September 25, 1603 there ) was an Italian composer of the Renaissance.

life and work

Felis became Kapellmeister and Canon at the Cathedral of Bari . He went to Prague and met Philippe de Monte there. He eventually took the position of Kapellmeister at the Cathedral of Naples . In 1596 Felis returned to his native Bari.

Felis wrote masses, motets, madrigals as well as villanelles, ricerari and fantasies.
