Wren studied at Durham University since 1969, where he met Phil Wachsmann , Richard Beswick and Simon Mayo , the other members of the later, influential improvisation ensemble Chamberpot . Together they released two albums and a cassette. In addition, Wren explored string ensembles and more jazz-oriented groups: in 1976 he founded the London Bass Trio with Marcio Mattos and Marc Meggido (later Simon H. After a break in playing since the mid-1980s, Wren began playing again in 1997, for example in a quartet with Chris Burn , Mark Wastell and Rhodri Davies . Wren then founded the string quartet Quatuor Accorde , from which Quartour Encorde developed. He also worked with Howard Riley , Larry Stabbins and Mark Sanders until 2012 . He also toured in the Unsolicited Music Ensemble with Raymond Strid and Martin Küchen . Wren has also worked with Phil Wachsmann, Matt Hutchinson, Steve Noble , John Butcher , Maggie Nicols, Gail Brand , Tony Bevan , Alan Tomlinson , Roger Turner , Paul Rutherford , Harry Beckett and Milo Fine in the UK, as well as with LaDonna Smith , Bruce Eisenbeil and Stephen Flinn in the USA.
