Rhodri Davies

Rhodri Davies (* 1971 in Aberystwyth , Wales ) is a British jazz and improvisation musician ( harp , live electronics, composition ).

Live and act

Davies, who lived in London from 1995, worked in the English improvisation scene from the 1990s a. a. with Simon H. Fell , Evan Parker , John Butcher , Chris Burn , Derek Bailey , Tony Wren and the London Improvisers Orchestra ; in the following decade also with Thomas Lehn , Axel Dörner , Dominic Lash , Mark Sanders and Trevor Watts . In the IST group (with Simon H. Fell and Mark Wastell ) he is one of the pioneering groups in the development of ultra-quiet aesthetics. He also presented a number of solo albums. In 2001 he was a guest at the Berlin Total Music Meeting . He also worked in a trio with John Tilbury and Michael Duch . In 2012 he received a grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts . Davies lives in Gateshead . Tom Lord lists him between 1995 and 2012 with participation in 53 recording sessions.

Hen Ogledd

In 2013 Davies released the album Hen Ogledd together with folk musician Richard Dawson . The album title - Welsh for "The Old North" - became the name of the band they founded, to which Dawn Bothwell and Sally Pilkington later joined as additional members. The album Bronze was released in 2016, Mogic in 2018 .
