Steffen Mau (born October 31, 1968 in Rostock ) is a German sociologist and professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Life

Before the fall of the Wall, Steffen Mau completed an apprenticeship as an electronics specialist at VEB Schiffselektronik Rostock ; He did not start a study of mathematics and physics delegated to him in 1988 . From 1991 to 1997 he studied sociology and political science at the Free University of Berlin . From 1998 to 2001 he did his doctorate at the European University Institute in Florence on the subject of the welfare state . This was followed by professional positions at the Humboldt University of Berlin and the University of Bremen , where he received a junior professorship in 2003 and a professorship for political sociology in 2005.
