Steffen Simon (born March 10, 1965 in West Berlin ) is a German television presenter and football commentator .

Career

At the age of 13, Simon started his career as a RIAS school reporter. A traineeship at RIAS Berlin followed. In 1985, Simon started working for various ARD radio stations. There were a few engagements as a presenter for SFB , ORB , in the NDR -Talkshow and in the ARD - Sports Show (1994).

In November 1989, Steffen Simon moderated the multi-hour concert for Berlin from the Berlin Deutschlandhalle as an SFB reporter . This first major German-German rock concert was broadcast live across Germany on radio and television.

In 1998 Simon for private broadcasters Sat.1 and then moderated there between 1998 and 2000 the local Bundesliga show ran . In 2000 he returned to the public service broadcasters and became head of the sports department of the then ORB . On November 11, 2002, he commented on a game of the German national football team for the first time in the 1-1 draw of the national team against Bosnia-Herzegovina on ARD . In 2003 he took over the management of the ARD sports show. In October 2006 he succeeded Heribert Faßbender as head of sports at Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) .

Steffen Simon was used as a commentator at the 2004 European Championships , the 2006 World Cup , the 2008 European Championships , the 2010 World Cup , the 2012 European Championships and the 2014 World Cup . In 2006 he also commented on the German national team's matches at the 2006 World Cup for people with disabilities .

Since August 2013, Simon has been presenting the ten-minute football satire program Schnauze Simon on the first Sunday of every month on WDR television.
