The Steinacher Achen ( called Seebach in Austria , otherwise also Dürre Ach or just Ach ) is a 13.48 km long stream and tributary of the Vils in the river system of the Lech in the area of Gräns (Austria) and Pfrontens ( Germany ).

topography

The stream has its source near the Seebenalpe , which lies between Vilser Jöchl and Aggenstein , at 1578 m. From there it flows down to Enge and then passes the border to Germany. From now on it is no longer called Seebach but Steinacher Achen (or Dürre Ach or Ach ). In the following it passes the gauge point at the Fallmühle and flows into the Vils after crossing Pfronten-Steinach.

Watermills

In the Pfrontens area, numerous watermills were and are operated on the Steinacher Achen. A flour mill was built for the first time in 1592. Gypsum mills and saws were added later. Today some of these mills are mainly used to generate electricity.
