The nature reserve quarry Kallbrück and Peterbach is located in the municipality of Simmerath north of the Kalltalsperre .

Protection purpose

The habitats are to be protected for many plants, fungi and animals endangered according to the Red List , as well as habitats such as springs, near-natural and unspoilt stream sections, alluvial forests , ravine forests , rocks and rubble heaps as well as wet and humid grassland. The aim is to maintain a quarry, a biotope network with the Kall valley system . In the quarry, emphasis is placed on maintaining an outcrop with particular geological significance as a geological feature and for research and teaching.
