Estuary of the Steinkjerelva

The Steinkjerelva is a short but water-rich river in the Norwegian municipality of Steinkjer in Trøndelag .

It is created by the confluence of the Byaelva and Ogna rivers and flows over a distance of two kilometers to the Beitstadfjord , an inner arm of the Trondheimsfjord , and into the Atlantic Ocean .

The mean discharge at its mouth is 65 m³ / s. The catchment area covers 2143 km² and includes the sixth largest inland lake in Norway, the Snåsavatnet . With source rivers, its river length is 112 km. Its course of the river lies entirely in the town of Steinkjer. It divides the city into two parts, Sørsida (Sørsia) and Nordsida (Norsia).
