Meini Gwyr

The Neolithic stone circle Meini Gwyr (also Buarth Arthur , German  "Arthurs Gehege" , called) near the A478 road at Glandy Cross in Carmarthenshire , is the only "Embanked Stone Circle" in Wales .

The stone circle ( Welsh cromlech ), which once consisted of 17 high menhirs , was surrounded on the outside by a wide, low wall with an outer diameter of around 36 meters, which was framed with a higher dry stone wall in the access area . Two stones (1.7 and 1.0 meters high) and the rest of the wall have been preserved. A broad entrance, bounded by eight tall menhirs, lies in the west.

The location of the structure, close to the source of the Stonehenge Bluestones in the Preseli Mountains and about 3 kilometers away from the stone circle of Gors Fawr make it plausible that this was once an essential place for the community.
