Cabinet Hübener I

The Cabinet Hübener I formed by command of 16 July 1945 to 2 December 1946, the provincial administration of the SMAD newly created province of Saxony from 1945 to 1946 . Since there was as yet no state parliament, the SMAD appointed the cabinet of the former Prussian province of Saxony. The former governor of the province of Saxony, Erhard Hübener , became president of the provincial administration . The former DDP member had already been appointed governor of the part of the province of Saxony in May 1945 by the American occupation forces. After the change of occupation, first talks took place on July 4, 1945 between the representative of the KPD Central Committee , Gustav Gundelach , the former member of the Provincial Parliament of Saxony and a member of the KPD Central Committee, Bernard Koenen and Hübener. Regardless of the recommendation of the KPD, the SMAD also saw Hübener as a suitable candidate. In the final discussions, at the request of the KPD, it was agreed that the office of 1st Vice President should be filled by Robert Siewert. The personnel department and the police should report to him. The further allocation of responsibilities to the remaining presidential posts was left to Hübener.

As a result of the resignation of two vice-presidents within a short period of time and the deployment of Werner Bruschke as regional president, the administration was changed several times. This changeover and the new division of departments was completed in March 1946.
