Stone cross at Kirchbühl
The stone cross at Kirchbühl is a historic stone cross in the community-free area of Feuchter Forst in the Middle Franconian district of Nürnberger Land in Bavaria .

The stone cross is located about 1.5 kilometers southeast of the market town of Feucht and 1.5 kilometers north of Schwarzenbruck . It is near a high-voltage road south of federal highway 8 on a forest road to Gsteinach .

The Latin atonement cross is made of sandstone and about 100 cm high, 65 cm wide and 25 cm deep. A small cross is carved on the front, which could have come from the time it was built. The cross is weathered, mossy and sunken. There are several repaired fractures in the intersection area. In autumn 2017 the cross was knocked over by strangers but could be raised again without damage. The administration of the Bavarian State Forests put up an information board on site in 2017.
History and legend
In the so-called "Kirchbühl" stood the old Nikolauskapelle. It was mentioned as early as 1480 and in 1880 the remains of the chapel were still visible. In the 17th century it was still customary to put a cross in the place of an abandoned church. This custom was only common in Catholic areas and therefore a connection with the chapel is questionable. Since 1912 the cross lay smashed on the ground and was erected again in 1935 by the German stone cross research . According to legend, a fiery poodle accompanied the hiker from Feuchter Steinkreuz Regensburger Strasse to here at night and then turned back with loud barking.
