Pierres Droites stone row

The menhirs of the stone row Pierres Droites ( French Les pierres droites ) near Monteneuf in the forest of Paimpont in the Morbihan department in Brittany in France are made of reddish slate . The row of stones was only discovered in 1989 as a result of forest fires about two kilometers east of the town of Monteneuf on the D776 département road in the direction of Guer .

Until then, only a few ivy- covered menhirs were known to lie on the ground. In the next nine years, 420 menhirs were found and exposed on seven hectares through targeted searches, 42 of which were set up again at their original location. The complex was probably destroyed in the year 1000. The row of stones has been protected as a monument historique since 1997 .

The gallery tomb Les Bordouès is about a kilometer away .
