The Stellaria neglecta ( Stellaria neglecta ), also Auwald chickweed called, is a species of the family of the Pink family (Caryophyllaceae).
Appearance
The annual herbaceous plant reaches a length of about 20 to 80 cm. The stem is hairy in one row. It is closely related to the chickweed and resembles it in habit . The leaves are ovate, pointed to a short point, the lower leaves are more or less stalked and can be up to 4 cm long.
The flower stalks are glabrous or pubescent all around. The petals are white and as long or slightly longer than the calyx. The sepals are more or less blunt and 5 to 6.5 mm long. This species usually has ten purple anthers . It blooms from April to July.
The seeds are 1.3 to 1.7 mm in size, are dark red-brown and have four rows of high, pointed-conical warts.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.
Location claims and distribution
The large-flowered chickweed grows in forest fringe societies, on forest paths and in weed meadows. It prefers moist, nutrient-rich sandy and loamy soils.
The distribution of Stellaria neglecta is still insufficiently known. It is probably a subatlantic-sub-Mediterranean floral element.
In Austria it occurs scattered or rarely, in Switzerland it grows generally scattered.
The large-flowered chickweed occurs in the middle and north of Germany scattered or rarely. In addition, it is very rarely found.
Taxonomy
The species was previously regarded as a subspecies of the star chickweed ( Stellaria media ) and known as Stellaria media ssp. Neglecta (consecration) called Gremli .
