Stephan Auer (born January 11, 1991 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a defender .

Career

Auer began his career in the youth department of SV Schwechat , where he started playing football in 1997. In 2002 he moved to the academy of FC Admira Wacker Mödling and stayed there until 2009. In that year he was included in the squad of the second team and made his debut in the Regionalliga Ost on November 13, 2009 against the FAC team for Vienna as he came on in the 83rd minute for Markus Lackner . The full-back then developed into a regular for the amateurs and came on nine more missions. In the following season Auer was already used 23 times and was able to score against the Austria Amateurs and SC Columbia Floridsdorf .

After Admira had made it to the Bundesliga, Dietmar Kühbauer brought him into the first team's squad and now shuttled between the Bundesliga and Regionalliga Ost. Auer made his debut in the top Austrian division on November 27, 2011 against the then reigning champions SK Sturm Graz , when he came on for Andreas Schrott in the 75th minute . The game in the UPC Arena was lost 1: 3. He played his first game from the start a week later in the home game against SV Ried , which ended in a 1-1 draw.

On June 1, 2015, it was announced that the defender was moving to SK Rapid Wien for the next three seasons . After five years at Rapid, in which he played 101 Bundesliga games, he left the club after his contract expired after the 2019/20 season.
