Stephan Boeder

Stephan Boeder (* 9. November 1937 in Cologne , † 28. June 2018 ) was a German graphic artist , painter and emeritus professors who in Cologne and later in shillings lived and worked.

Live and act

Stephan Boeder completed an apprenticeship as a commercial graphic artist after high school and then studied "Free Art" from 1955 to 1958 at the Cologne factory schools, among others at Vordemberge . In 1959 he went to what was then N WDR television as a graphic designer, stayed there for 35 years and, as chief designer, shaped the appearance of the ARD design. The ARD-Eins described here, which was introduced in 1984, was developed by him. Not only did computer animation find its way into the TV design of German television, ARD also got a corporate design for the first time .

Boeder is also a sought-after visiting professor and lecturer at various universities. In 1992 he was appointed full professor for electronic media and TV design at the Cologne Art Academy for Media (KHM), the successor to the Cologne factory schools .

In 1997 he co-founded the international short film competition for young talent in Cologne .

After 2002 he turned increasingly to freelance work, a synthesis of graphics and painterly perfection in oil or acrylic. His themes such as still life, landscape and people, often with a satirical appeal, he also implemented in free color graphics and drawings in the tradition of New Objectivity .
