Max Lesmüller (born April 27, 1874 in Munich ; † January 29, 1952 there ) was a German pharmacist.

Life

Lesmüller was the grandson of the pharmacist Johann Gregor Lesmüller (1791–1841), the owner of the Engel pharmacy in Munich, which still exists today. His mother was Theresia Lesmüller, née Mayerle. He attended the Ludwigsgymnasium and completed an internship at the royal court pharmacy under Max Pettenkofer . He studied at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and passed the state examination in 1900. In 1902 he took over his father's pharmacy and sold it in 1907. During World War I he served as a staff pharmacist and was head of the medical corps of the I. Royal Bavarian Army Corps . From 1905 onwards, Lesmüller took over functions in the pharmacist's professional representation . In 1932 he became president of the Bavarian Chamber of Pharmacists , whose vice-presidency he had held since 1928. In 1933 he was deposed as president. After the end of the Second World War , he was temporarily reinstated in office by the US occupation . In 1948 the "Working Group of Pharmacists' Chambers of the United Economic Area" was founded under his leadership. He was also chairman of the administrative board of the German Pharmacy Museum in Heidelberg. Lesmüller died at the age of 78 and was buried in the forest cemetery (Munich) . He handed the Engel pharmacy over to his nephew and adopted son August Lesmüller in 1948. His wife Anni Lesmüller, former headmistress of the municipal Luisengymnasium , founded the Dr. August and Dr. Anni Lesmüller Foundation for the Promotion of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
