Stephan Lennig

Stephan Lennig (* 1975 ) is a German church musician and rector of the Evangelical University for Church Music in Dresden .

Life

Lennig grew up in Neuenrade in the Sauerland and obtained the general university entrance qualification in 1995 at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Plettenberg . During this time he was a member of the choir and chamber choir of the Christ Church in Plettenberg.

Musical work

At the Detmold Academy of Music studied Lennig Protestant Church Music conclusion of the A-exam in 2001. In Frankfurt , he joined the University of Music and Performing Arts studying for conducting , and was assistant regional church music director Michael Graf Munster at the St. Catherine's Church . From 2003 to 2005 Lennig was district choirmaster in the Hanau-Land church district and from 2005 to February 2013 the deanery church musician in the deanery of Wöllstein . In addition to his work as the conductor of the various choirs in his parish and his deanery, as well as an organist on a valuable historical Stumm organ, he was particularly interested in training part-time church musicians and promoting church choir work. From 2004 onwards he worked as a lecturer for choir conducting and piano playing at the Schlüchtern training center, headed the Wörrstadt choir and was the deputy chairman of the Association of Protestant Choirs in Hesse and Nassau.

On March 1, 2013, Lennig was appointed to succeed Christfried Brödel as rector of the University of Church Music in Dresden and professor of choral conducting.

Private

Lennig is married and has two children.
