Life

Stefan Röschlein was born on June 29, 1888 in Münsing on Lake Starnberg. His mother died in his birth and he was then given to an orphanage in Munich together with his next older brother, Willi Röschlein. He completed secondary school in this orphanage and was then employed as an actuary in a Munich insurance company . He soon switched to the profession of "optical computer". For a long time he was employed in England at an optical company in Rochester. During this time he changed his last name to "Roeschlein". His salary was paid out in cash in gold and silver coins. Immediately before the outbreak of the First World WarIn 1914 he went to Germany so as not to be interned in England. He was then employed again as an optical computer at an optical company in Rathenow (Mecklenburg Lake District). His first son, Rudi, was born in Rathenow in 1921. He then moved to the optical company Meyer-Optik in Görlitz, where he met his second wife Martha Röschlein, born Weber, whom he married on January 6, 1940 in Bad Kreuznach. From this marriage his second child Rolf Roeschlein was born.

On July 1, 1936, Stefan Roeschlein joined the Jos. Schneider Optische Werke in Bad Kreuznach as head of the computing office as the successor to Albrecht Wilhelm Tronnier . About six weeks before the currency reform in June 1948, Stefan Roeschlein set up his own company Roeschlein-Kreuznach on the advice of his son Rudi Roeschlein . Both wanted to run the company together. During this time, Stefan Roeschlein developed numerous lenses, such as B. the Telenar or the Luxon . The Roeschlein-Kreuznach company was sold to Optisches Werk Julius Ernst Sill (now Sill Optics ) in Schwabach near Nuremberg in 1964 . Stefan Roeschlein received an annuity and a blue VW Beetle. He died on January 10, 1971 in Bad Kreuznach shortly before the birth of his first grandson Ralf Roeschlein .
