Stephan Walsleben

Stephan Walsleben (* 1983 ) is a German karateka .

Life

At the age of six, Walsleben began with Taekwondo in 1990 , then switched to karate in 1996 and completed his first competition in 1998.

In 2008 he achieved silver in the Kumite individual and team at the European Championships of the World Karate and Kickboxing Commission (WKC). In 2009 he became WKC world champion in both kumite singles and teams. In the same year he also won bronze in the Kumite team at the Japan Karate Association (JKA) European Championship. He was a member of the German national team of the German JKA Karate Association .

At the 2014 European Championships in Kortrijk , Belgium , he finished third in the Kumite team and fifth at the 2014 World Championships in Tokyo . In 2015 he was runner-up in the Kumite team at both the European Championship in Prague and the German Championship in Bochum . In 2017 he won the silver medal in the Kumite Team at the European Championships in Sittard, the Netherlands . In 2018 he ended his active participation in competitions as an athlete.

In 2009, Walsleben was allowed to enter the Golden Book of the City of Magdeburg in recognition of his sporting success as a karateka at the World Cup .

He has the Trainer-C license for popular sport from the German Olympic Sports Confederation and is the trainer of the "Hatsuun Jindo" Karate Club Magdeburg-Barleben e. V.

Walsleben passed his Abitur and, after completing his studies, started a career as a detective commissioner at the State Criminal Police Office Saxony-Anhalt in Magdeburg .
