Stephen Bayard (born May 31, 1700 , † 1757 in Bergen County , New Jersey ) was Mayor of New York City between 1744 and 1747 .

The sources on Stephen Bayard are not very rich. His place of birth is given differently as either New York City or Albany . He came from a well-known family in New York Province . His parents were judges Samuel Bayard (1669-1746) and Margaretta Van Cortlandt (1674-1719). His two grandfathers were Nicolas Bayard (1644–1707) and Stephanus Van Cortlandt (1643–1700). Both were former mayors of New York City. In 1744, Stephen Bayard followed in the footsteps of both of his grandfathers after being appointed mayor of New York City. This office held until 1747. Privately, he owned a property with a farm in Bergen County, New Jersey. He died there in 1757.
