Stephen Nweke Ezeanya

Stephen Nweke Ezeanya (born March 31, 1921 in Nnokwa , † November 12, 1996 ) was a Nigerian Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Onitsha .

Life

Stephen Nweke Ezeanya was ordained a priest on December 20, 1953 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Onitsha on March 9, 1985 . His predecessor, Francis Arinze , who was appointed Pro-Prefect of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue , gave him episcopal ordination on May 11th of the same year . Co - consecrators were Paul Fouad Naïm Tabet , Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Nigeria , and Michael Ugwu Eneja , Bishop of Enugu .

On February 25, 1995, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation.
