The Bistum Enugu ( latin Dioecesis Enuguensis ) is in Nigeria preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Enugu .

history

The Diocese of Enugu was on November 12, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Quod divinus from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Onitsha and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On November 19, 1990, the Diocese of Enugu gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Nsukka . Another assignment of territory took place on July 8, 2005 to establish the diocese of Awgu .
