history

The diocese Awgu was on July 8, 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Evangelica sollertia from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Enugu and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Onitsha as a suffragan . The first bishop was John Ifeanyichukwu Okoye .
