Stefan Berislavić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Стефан Бериславић ; * 1510 ; † 1535 ) was the son of Ivaniš Berislavić and Serbian despot from 1520 to 1526.

Life

When his father died, Stefan was only ten years old. Thus, he was not awarded the title of despot until 1520.

After the defeat of the Hungarians at the Battle of Mohács in 1526 and the death of King Ludwig , Ferdinand I and Johann Zápolya began a dispute over the succession of the Hungarian crown. Stefan Berislavić took the side of Ferdinand I, but Johann Zápolya, the prince of Transylvania , took the despot from him.

Stefan Berislavić died in 1535 of an unknown illness.
