Steve Emerson (* before 1995) is an American special effects artist .

Career

After graduating from college, Emerson worked in Hollywood. In 1995 he created graphics and visual effects that were used on television for The Post Group . At the beginning of his career, Emerson was employed as a data manager and digital compositor . For example, he worked in the films Flubber , Jack Frost , the two sequels to Matrix , The Legend of Beowulf and Transformers . He also worked on documentaries , such as Michael Jordan , which was published under the title Michael Jordan to the Max .

He has worked for the American animation studio Laika since 2008 . He worked on the stop-motion films Coraline as 2D supervisor, ParaNorman as compositing supervisor and as VFX supervisor for the two Wertke Die Boxtrolls and Kubo - The brave Samurai .

For his artistic achievements in the film Kubo , Emerson and his colleagues Oliver Jones , Brian McLean and Brad Schiff received an Oscar nomination in the category best visual effects at the 2017 Academy Awards .
