Steve Negus

Steve Negus (born February 19, 1952 ) is a Canadian drummer.

biography

He began his musical career with the tours of bands like Fludd , Fullerton Dam , Shelter and Bananas , but really he was known by his participation on the albums The Getaway by Chris de Burgh and Waving Not Drowning by Rupert Hine .

The years at Saga

Steve Negus is one of the founding members of the Canadian neo-prog band Saga , which became known primarily in South America , Europe , Canada and the United States with titles such as Wind Him Up , The Flyer and Times' Up . He played for Saga from 1977 to 1986 and from 1992 to 2003. In 2003 he left Saga again to devote more time to his numerous solo projects. In 2006, due to an illness of drummer Brian Doerner, he took over some concerts for him on Saga’s European tour. He also played the Canadian concerts of the Saga Tour in October 2007.

Instruments

Steve Negus is one of the first drummers to use electronic drums . He contributed significantly to the spread and establishment of electronic drum sets. He used a Simmons , which he played in alternation with his acoustic set, a double bass drum kit consisting of two bass drums , six toms , a snare drum, hi-hat and four cymbals .

Together with singer Michael Sadler he played the double drum solo A Brief Case, in a combination of acoustic and electronic drums ( LP Saga in Transit, live, 1982).
