Steven Block

Steven M. Block (* 1952 ) is a physicist and biologist who conducts research in the field of kinetics .

Block received his BA in Physics from Oxford University in 1974 and an MA in Physics in 1978. He received an MA in Biology from the University of Colorado and a PhD in Biology from the California Institute of Technology in 1983 . After postdoctoral stays at Stanford University , among others , he became a lecturer at Harvard University in 1987 and Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University in 1994 . In 1999 he accepted a position at Stanford, where he is a member of both the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Applied Physics . Since 2006 he has been the W. Ascherman Chair of Sciences at the School of Humanities & Sciences in Stanford.
