Steven Toushin

Steven Toushin (born August 6, 1946 in Brooklyn ) is an American film producer , screenwriter , writer and theater operator.

Life

Toushin was born in 1946. After finishing school, he left New York City at the age of 17 and moved to Chicago in the summer of 1968 . There he began to work in the management of what was then Aardvark Theater . Toushin began shooting nude films. He is considered to be one of the pioneers in the porn industry in the United States for LGBT films. He shot under the pseudonyms Toby Ross and Davis Babbitt .

In the 1970s, Toushin and business partners acquired the Aardvark Theater and other theaters and sex clubs in Chicago, San Francisco, Indianapolis , East Chicago and Gary , Indiana , including Festival , Termite , 3-Penny , Eden , Savages and Bijou Theaters , from which currently only the Bijou Theater is open. Toushin owns and operates the Bijou Theater in Chicago. Toushin has produced various gay pornographic films and is an author of books on gay pornography and BDSM topics. He has been on trial for violations of pornography regulations in several lawsuits: 1968 for the film Flaming Creatures by Jack Smith , 1970 for the film I Am Curious (Yellow) , 1973 for the film Deep Throat and Ranch Slaves and 1974 for the film Teenage Fantasies .

From 1980 to 1995 Toushin published the Bijou Video Catalog . In the 1980s, with the advent of videos, Toushin became a major provider of gay pornography as well as BDSM videos. In July 1988, Toushin was charged with selling the films Erotic Hands , The Final Chapter of Mistress Ann , You Said a Mouthful and Please Sir for the sadomasochistic scenes in the film.

Among other things, he wrote the books The Cock Coloring Book , Puppy Tales , The Puppy Papers and The Destruction of the Moral Fabric of America .

Toushin received the 2007 GayVN Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in San Francisco and was inducted into the 2009 AVN Awards Hall of Fame in Las Vegas .
