life and work

Shukaitis is considered an anarchist cultural theorist . He is a member of the Academic Staff of the University of Essex , where he teaches at the Center for Work and Organization and supervises doctoral students.

Autonomedia is an American publisher specializing in radical theory, especially the anarchist tradition . For many years this publishing house worked closely with Semiotext (e) , which specializes in post-structuralism . Shukaitis belongs to the editorial collective of Autonomedia and publishes regularly in radical and anarchist magazines such as Ephemera , Les Cahiers de l'idiotie and Rethinking Marxism . As editor he has presented a series of texts by Franco Berardi , Uri Gordon , Félix Guattari and Antonio Negri .

His first monograph begins with a Minor Compositions Open Access Statement , in which he defines Open Access as free use, but without commercial interests. Since 2009, he coordinates Minor Compositions , a series of interventions and provocations drawing from autonomous politics, avant-garde aesthetics, and the revolutions of everyday life , a series of interventions and provocations due to autonomous politics , aesthetics of the avant-garde and the revolutions in everyday life. In April 2016, he presented works by the jazz saxophonist and poet John Gruntfest in a broadcast on the London experimental radio station Resonance FM .

His 2016 book, The Composition of Movements to Come , was received with interest. Stephen Duncombe of New York University described it as "brilliant and useful". Shukaitis questions the limits of intellectual and activist thinking on the left and insists that the question of culture must be viewed strategically, not just tactically. In the German-speaking area, only one publication by Shukaitis can be verified, the essay Come the uprising of the displaced? Ten thoughts on ticks & comrades in Kamion 00/2014, the follow-up project to Kulturrisse .
