The Steyr 658 is a tractor from the Steyr Plus series from Steyr Daimler Puch . It was built from 1977 to 1979.
In 1971 the existing Plus series with the types Steyr 30 , Steyr 40 , Steyr 50 , Steyr 70 and Steyr 90 was converted to three-digit type designations for marketing reasons and at the same time some changes were made. The new Steyr 650 therefore replaced the Steyr 50 and in 1977 the somewhat stronger Steyr 658 took its place.
The water-cooled diesel engine of the type WD 408.42 with four cylinders and 3.140 l displacement had an output of around 40 kW (55 PS). The transmission had 16 forward gears and eight reverse gears, on request also up to 16 forward gears and 16 reverse gears. The maximum speed was given as 27 km / h.
The tractor was available as the Steyr 658 in the rear-wheel version and as the Steyr 658 a in an all-wheel version.
Around 3300 copies of the rear-wheel version and around 800 of the all-wheel-drive version were sold. In 1979 the Steyr 658 was replaced by the Steyr 8060 of the 80 series.
The body was designed by the French industrial designer Louis Lucien Lepoix .
