The Steyr V is a car of the luxury class , which the Oesterreichische Waffenfabriks Society (from 1926: Steyr-Werke ) in 1924 as the successor of the model II brought out. The car was based on the design of its predecessor, but had a slightly wider track.
It had a 6-cylinder OHC in-line engine installed at the front, which drove the rear wheels via a 4-speed gearbox. By 1925, 1850 copies of this vehicle - also known as its predecessor 12/40 hp - were produced.
In 1925 the more powerful successor model VII appeared .
