The Steyr XX is a passenger car of the upper-middle class , which the automobile company Steyr as a successor of the model XII brought out 1929th The car was designed by Anton Honsig .
He had a 6-cylinder in-line engine installed at the front, which drove the rear wheels via a 4-speed gearbox. Front wheels were attached to rigid axles and had longitudinal leaf springs. The rear swing axle had a transverse leaf spring. In the only year of manufacture of this vehicle - also called 8/40 hp - exactly 2,900 copies were made. This was so much and sales were so bad that afterwards car production had to rest for a year until all cars were sold.
It was not until 1930 that the successor model 30 appeared with an engine of the same size but significantly shorter-stroke.
In the Aspang Automobile Museum in Aspang-Markt in Lower Austria there is a copy that has been converted into a van with a loading area.
