The Steyr XXX or Steyr 30 is a passenger car of the upper-middle class , which the Steyr-Werke AG as a successor of the model XX brought out 1930th The car was designed by Ferdinand Porsche . By the time it was at the Paris Motor Show in October 1930 , Porsche had already left the Steyr works.
The car had a 6-cylinder in- line engine installed at the front, which drove the rear wheels via a 4-speed gearbox. The front wheels were attached to rigid axles and had longitudinal leaf springs . The rear swing axle had a transverse leaf spring. By 1932, the standard version - also known as 8/40 hp - had exactly 2,200 copies. Only in 1932 there were 343 copies of the identical Steyr 30 E , Steyr 130 or 8/38 PS .
The Steyr 30 Type 45 taximeter was also identical , a taxi version offered from 1930 to 1933 with 3 rows of 2 seats each, which was built 666 times. The car had a rolling roof at the front and a folding roof at the rear. A copy from 1931 is in the Aspang Automobile Museum in Aspang-Markt in Lower Austria .
In 1932 the model 130 was joined by the Steyr 30 S , or Steyr 230 , or 8/45 PS . The cabriolet with 2 or 4 seats had a more powerful engine and was significantly longer than the sedan. 620 pieces were produced.
Also in 1932 the Steyr 30 SL , or Steyr 330 , or 8/45 PS , a six-seater sedan with a longer length and a larger wheelbase, and the same engine as the sports car, appeared. Until it was replaced by the 430 model in 1933, only 55 copies were made.
