Giersch Foundation
The Giersch Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Frankfurt am Main . It was founded on November 14, 1994 by the Frankfurt entrepreneur Carlo Giersch and his wife Karin Giersch .
The foundation is involved in the fields of science and research, art and culture and promotes medical and charitable projects, especially in children's medicine.
The foundation is responsible for the Giersch Museum (museum for regional art) on the Museumsufer in Sachsenhausen and the Portikus exhibition hall on the Old Bridge , which is used by the Städelschule .
It financed buildings for the following institutions:
- The Giersch House at the Clementine Children's Hospital in Frankfurt.
- The Villa Giersch as the guest house of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .
- The building of the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) on the Riedberg campus of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.
Other activities include the establishment of the “Carlo and Karin Giersch Chair for Modern Art” at Tel Aviv University .
Carlo and Karin Giersch Foundation at TU Darmstadt
The "Carlo and Karin Giersch Foundation at TU Darmstadt" was set up by the same donors and supports the work of the Technical University of Darmstadt . This financed the following projects, among others:
- "Chalet Giersch" (TU Darmstadt meeting center near Geneva)
- Technology and information center TIZ in Darmstadt
