Karin Giersch

Karin Giersch (born November 6, 1939 in Frankfurt am Main ; born Karin Lutz ) is a German patroness .

Career

Karin Lutz was born as the second daughter of a long-established butcher family from the Frankfurt train station district. In the family's own butcher's shop on Münchener Strasse, she graduated with honors as a specialist butcher shop. There she got to know the wholesale and foreign trade apprentice Carlo Giersch , whom she married in August 1963.

Together with her husband, she built the electronics company Spoerle Electronic into the largest distributor of electronic components in Central Europe. With the retirement and the sale of the company, the childless couple developed extensive donation activities to promote science and art.

In March 1990 the Carlo and Karin Giersch Foundation was established at the TU Darmstadt , in November 1994 the Giersch Foundation , which among other things acts as a sponsor for the Giersch Museum .
