Still It Cries (SIC) is a melodic death metal band from Monheim am Rhein , Germany .

history

The band was founded in 1997 by singer and lead guitarist Matthias Kupka and then guitarist Thomas Sonnenburg. At that time the band consisted of Wassilios Simeonidis (drums), Matthias Breddin (keyboard), Christoph Breddin (bass), Thomas Sonnenburg (guitar) and Matthias Kupka (guitar, vocals).

The first self-titled recording Still It Cries was recorded in 1998 and 1999 on their own because of the high demand nachgemastert .

In 1999 Still It Cries started their first real release with The Lie in Beauty , but still on their own. With this, the band achieved a high chart placement among the top 5 on MP3.com for the first time . Co-founder Thomas Sonnenburg left the band and was replaced by Thomas Seckler.

With the production of the mini CD A Dedication in 2001, Still it Cries made a name for itself in the German metal underground . Christoph Breddin and Matthias Breddin left the band. Robert Schulz joined as the new bass player .

In 2002 Matthias Kohlen joined the group as a "session player" (3rd guitar), but left again. Although Matthias Kohlen was involved in the creation of As You Drown in Tears at this time , he was never named in the album A Dedication .

In 2003 the band signed a record deal with Twilight / Distribution and then produced the debut album A Dedication . In 2004 the fan club "Twisted Thoughts" was founded.

After a few line-up changes, the band now consisted of Matthias Kupka (guitar, vocals), Robin Böhm (guitar), Lars Kappeler (bass) and Wassilios Simeonidis (drums).

In 2005 Still It Cries produced the follow-up album Take Leave . They played gigs with bands like Suidakra , Zeraphine , Agathodaimon and End of Green . Bandleader Matthias Kukpa joined the band Suidakra from 2004 to 2006, but remained active with Still It Cries. Lars Kappeler (bass) and Wassilios Simeonidis (drums) left the band; the latter was replaced by DanToKa.

2007 was devoted to songwriting for the upcoming album Alternative Dead End . In the same year Still It Cries played with bands like Graveworm , One Man Army and the Undead Quartet and Sub7even .

The new bass player was Dilan aka “The Incredible Ran”. In January 2008 Matthias joined the band Emergency Gate as lead singer.

Due to musical differences, Matthias decided to part with Robin, Dilan and DanToKa in order to continue working with session musicians. In spring 2009 DanToKa made a comeback.
