Stine Andresen b. Jürgens (born December 23, 1849 in Boldixum ; † May 13, 1927 ibid) was a German writer from the island of Föhr . Her lyrics are often related to her home island. In addition to poems in German, she also wrote some in North Frisian .

Life

Andresen was born as the daughter of the farmer Jürgen Erich Jürgens in Boldixum, today a district of Wyk auf Föhr , and spent most of her life there. The mother died early. Andresen attended the village school in Boldixum and studied further by reading. She wrote occasional poems early on, which she recited at festivals. Andresen belonged to the circle of friends of the Friedrich Hebbels family . After Hebbel's death in 1863, she worked temporarily as a secretary to his widow Christine Hebbel.

In 1875 Andresen married the miller Emil Andresen, who died in the 1890s. Andresen's poems appeared in print as early as 1893. When her financial situation worsened after the death of her husband, the author Karl Schrattenthal supported her with a new edition of her poems in 1896.

Aftermath

Two of Andresen's poems were set to music for choral works by the composer Ferdinand Heinrich Thieriot . In Wyk auf Föhr, the Stine-Andresen-Weg was named after the poet.
