Stingray was a South African rock band that existed from 1978 to 1981 .
history
The band was formed in 1978 by former The Rising Sons members Dennis East, Eddy Boyle and Mike Pilot. In 1979 the first album Stingray was released . The Single -Auskopplung Better the Devil You Know reached number four in the South African charts . The second album Operation Stingray was released in 1980. After drummer Shaun Wright lost a leg in a shark attack in 1980, he was replaced by Wally Cullis of Circus . Although popular in their home country, the group could hardly achieve success in other markets and therefore disbanded in 1981. Today the technical and compositional quality of the band's songs is especially appreciated.
