Together with the neighboring Munro Stob a 'Choire Mheadhoin and some lower upstream mountains, the Stob Coire Easain forms an independent mountain range east of the Gray Corries , separated from them by the Lairig Leacach . Along Loch Treig , the mountain range, which is also known as the Easains after its highest peak , runs roughly eight kilometers in length in a north-south direction. The Stob Coire Easain is connected to the northeastern neighboring Stob a 'Choire Mheadhoin by an approximately 970 meter high Bealach , both of which form a prominent double peak that towers over Loch Treig and is visible from afar. In the summit area of Stob Coire Easain is rocky and craggy penetrated, first in deeper areas it falls a bit flat into Lairig Leacach from. Further ridges lead from the summit to the north and south-southwest, between the north ridge and the connecting ridge to the Stob a 'Choire Mheadhoin, the mountain has a rock face that drops steeply into the Coire Easain Beag .
Access options are mainly via the ridges leading to the summit. Most Munro excavators climb the Stob Coire Easain at the same time as the Stob a 'Choire Mheadhoin when crossing the summit. The starting and ending point is the small settlement of Fersit north of Loch Treig on the West Highland Line . From there, the ascent leads over the 792 meter high Meall Cian Dearg , the northernmost summit of the chain and further over the main ridge and Stob a 'Choire Mheadhoin to the summit of Stob Coire Easain. Further approaches are possible from the Lairig Leacach or the Coire Laire via the north ridge and from the south, starting at the south end of Loch Treig. The starting point from this direction is Corrour station on the West Highland Line.
