The Angasmarca district is located in the Santiago de Chuco province in the La Libertad region in western Peru . The district was established on September 21, 1985. It has an area of ​​150 km². The 2017 census counted 5097 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 4261, in 2007 it was 6052. The district administration is located in the small town of Angasmarca, which is about 2900  m high and has 1899 inhabitants (as of 2017). Angasmarca is located 13 km east of the provincial capital Santiago de Chuco .

Geographical location

The Angasmarca district is located in the southeast of the Santiago de Chuco province. The area is bounded to the east and south by the Río Angasmarca and Río Tablachaca .

The Angasmarca district is bordered to the west by the district Santa Cruz de Chuca , on the north by the district Cachicadan , on the east by the district Mollebamba , in the southeast of the district Mollepata and the south by the district Pallasca ( province Pallasca ).
