The Stockholm was built in 1953 in the Helsingborg Varfs - AB shipyard in Helsingborg and put into service by the Swedish Maritime Administration. The Stockholm was in service as a multi-purpose ship for many years. She served as a pilot boat, tugboat, harbor icebreaker and buoy laying boat. They were also used as lifeboats on missions . In May 1997, Stockholm moved to Ishavet Inc. In 1999, renovation and modernization took place, with the polar ship Fram of the Norwegian researcher Fridtjof Nansen as the godfather. Currently, the ship is mostly used for polar cruises around Svalbard.
The Stockholm was in 2011 in Hamburg (interior shots, Filmförderung Schleswig-Holstein) and in the Arctic prop and location for the feature film An Enemy To Die For , a Swedish-Norwegian-German co-production, which took place in Sweden in 2012 and in Germany in 2013 appeared.
