The container ship type 8184 (other spelling also B8184 ) of the Stocznia Gdynia shipyard was built in series in the 2000s.
details
The 8184 series was designed in the early 2000s by the construction department of the Gdynia shipyard under the leadership of Wojciech Żychskiego with a view to the requirements of German container shipping companies. During the years of production, the type 8184 was changed in detail and based on this, the type 8200 was developed with similar dimensions. The ships are designed as full container ships without loading gear and with a deckhouse far aft . The container capacity is nominally 2732 TEU and 2267 TEU with a homogeneous load with 14 ton containers. 350 to 450, with some units even 500 refrigerated containers can be connected. The driving of vessels consists of a MAN B & W -Zweitakt- diesel engine of the type 7S70MC-C with 21,735 kW power . The engine acts directly on a fixed propeller and enables a speed of around 22 knots . Four auxiliary diesels and an emergency diesel generator are also available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster . In some ships, strong vibrations occurred, which were attributed to the propeller design. The problem was solved by installing slightly larger five-blade propellers with a different cut.
