Stojanka Mutafowa , born as Stojana-Maria Konstantinowa Mutafowa (Bulgarian: Стояна-Мария Константинова Мутафова; born on February 2, 1922 in Sofia , died on December 6, 2019 there ) was a Bulgarian theater and film actress. She has appeared in numerous films and plays and was nicknamed Misis Natural Disaster and Queen of Comedy as a comedian .

biography

Stojanka Mutafowa was born in Sofia and graduated from Sofia University with a degree in classical philology . Later she studied acting in Bulgaria and later also at the Academy of Arts in Prague , where she stayed for three years and also played at a theater. She made her theatrical debut in 1945 as a student at the State Theater School in Sofia at the National Theater "Ivan Vazov" in the play Scapin's Pranks by Molière , performed by Stefan Surchadzhiev . In 1946 she married her first husband, the Czech director Robert Rosner , after which she married two more times: first the journalist and translator Leonid Grubeshliev, with whom she had their daughter Maria Grubeshlieva (Mookie), and later the actor Neycho Popov, with whom she stayed together until his death in 1974.

From 1949 to 1956 she took part in several plays at the National Theater. She was co-founder of the Aleko Konstantinov Theater, where she appeared from 1957 to 1991, after which she went to the stage of the Adriana Budevska Drama Theater in Burgas . She has played in over 90 theater productions and has taken on several roles in film and television productions. Known stage partners have included Georgi Kaloyanchev , with whom she in the play in 2005 , the astronauts of Stanislaw Lem played, Georgi Partsalev , Apostol Karamatev and Nevena Kokanova .

In 2015, Mutafova was officially recognized by the Union of Bulgarian Artists (Съюзът на артистите в България, САБ) with the support of the Bulgarian Minister of Culture Weschdi Rashidov for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the actress with the longest professional acting career nominated. Until 2016, at the age of 94, she continued to perform internationally on theater stages in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. On February 2, 2019, Mutafova celebrated her 70th stage anniversary and 97th birthday in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

In October 2019, Mutafova underwent an operation for biliary problems and had sepsis and fever afterwards , but was stabilized again. In December she was hospitalized with acute breathing problems and had to be ventilated, and she died shortly afterwards.
