politics

Although Weschdi Raschidow is a Turk, he is one of the best known critics of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (BRF) party, which is dominated by the Turkish minority in Bulgaria, and its chairman Ahmed Dogan. Rashidov primarily criticizes the concentration of political and economic power in the hands of its chairman and the widespread corruption in the upper level of the party leadership. He also criticizes the discrepancy between the wealth of the party leadership and the poverty of its party base.

In the parliamentary elections in 2009 he led the list for proportional representation and majority voting of the party GERB in the BRF stronghold Kardzhali against Ahmed Dogan and his party Movement for Rights and Freedoms. He lost in a direct duel with Ahmed Dogan in the majority electoral list, but was still elected to parliament via the proportional representation list.

After the Bulgarian parliamentary election in 2009, which was won by the GERB party, Weschdi Rashidov was sworn in as Minister of Culture in the government of Boyko Borissow on July 27th .
